This 50 million year old fossil fish (Mioplosus labracoides) comes from the famous "laggerstatten" in Wyoming, USA - the Green River Formation. This member of the perch family was a voracious predator and has been found with other fish lodged in its mouth. It can be identified by its double dorsal fins and large fan-shaped tail. The smaller fish is a Diplomystus.

Dimensions: Mioplosus specimen measures 14.5 inches. The matrix measures 28 x 16 x 1.25 inches.
