The Story

Carved from a single septarian nodule discovered in Madagascar, this striking egg-shaped sculpture showcases the intricate natural geometry of a geologic process over 70 million years in the making.

Septarian nodules first formed during the Cretaceous period as clay balls on the ancient seafloor. Over time, they dried, cracked, and became infiltrated with mineral-rich fluids. As these fluids crystallized, they left behind a complex internal latticework—now revealed in brilliant contrast within this polished specimen.

The result is a dynamic interplay of earthy tones, angular calcite veins, and subtle crystalline glints, all enclosed in a boldly sculptural form that invites close study from every angle.

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Dimensions: The egg measures 24.5 cm (9.65") top to bottom, and 17.5 cm (6.9") wide
  • Weight: 10450 grams
